Let me tell you about my country:
The place where kids think smoking is cool
And others get rich for acting like a fool
Where precious education is offered to kids who view it as extreme bore
And at times, nutrition goes only as far as the corner store
The place where knowledge lost its value so we only wait for fate
While talking about Africa but look at the streets and you’ll see our own begging for a plate
A country where a romantic relationship is defined by sex
And most times, companionship only goes as far as a text
We live in a society with our imaginations floating in the sky
Yet, we don’t have the will to build the wings to fly
So wake up America.
