The water sprouts with excitement!
I remember the days of my innocence
when cloudy skies were not a metaphor;
an omen to validate pessimist outlooks on life

“Oh! Go play, baby! Mommy will come in a bit”
A leaf falls farther from heaven
reminder of the magic we’ve surrendered
for the repetitive nature of the life we chose;
a machine that doesn’t truly stop moving

Daddy is busy again.
So plant the excitement in the concrete playground
With a distant hope for the blossom of laughter
Although it may be too deep for growth through concrete;
play opportunities, buried by boundaries.

Let life be a wind
Decisive. Indecisive
Experiences multiply
Another, before the former coasts by

Hindsight touched
by God. Distinct similarity
masked to the present
Liberty in the assurance of what’s to come.

I wish I had written more Happy Poems before, now
I’m begging myself to remember what happiness feels, like
A sentiment outside of this hollow ground

The decisions to surrender are some inevitable, causes
The pensive decompression in my chair to, happen
To be one of the many moments my eyes open

That’s when I regret a family that was never mine but always, false
Beliefs that brought me a happiness outside of, reality
Stepped in to reproach US: this normal is delusional

Whenever I wake up sad, I wish I could flip back through the, pages
Filled with poems archiving all my moments of, happiness
Is something I was too distracted to write about

This poem is to empower you by reminding you that you shouldn’t just try to be like a specific person. That’s very limiting. Aim to be like them, but just so that you can surpass them! Thank you for watching!

When I say I look up to you.
I don’t mean I aspire to be like you

When I say that I look up to you
I don’t mean I follow your path,

Hoping to fall in line.

When I say I look up to you
You may ask then, “what do you mean”

If not to be like that person?

When I say I look up to you
Why should I aspire to be anything, but perfect?

When I say I look up to you
You have to understand no human is perfect

So why strive to be like one?

When I say I look up to you
I mean growth.

Which equates to making my life mine,

When I say “I look up to you”
That equates to making your life mine

Just to get my life back,
And why, would I want that?

When I say I look up to you
I mean I want these characteristics.
I want your lessons that my path in life didn’t bother
Teaching

When I say I look up to you
I mean I want that wisdom.
I want your sermon that my religion didn’t bother
Preaching

Only God is perfect,
So towards He, I aim

So when I say I look up to you
Know I only want to get better as I progress
To you. Then through you.

When I say I look up to you
Know that your success is only a level

To which I want to arrive.
Of which I want to remember.

This poem is saying black people need to stop looking to God/religion to save them from racism. God is not going to save black people from the oppressive society and world they live in. Black people need to stop waiting on God to save them. Instead, black folks have to figure out their own ways to save themselves from this racist world. Therefore, black people have got to stop spending so much time and money in the church.

God works on a different time than humans. If we want change, we need to stop giving ourselves momentary gratification by praying and paying the church (then going back to our old ways). Invest in yourselves, invest in your black communities, invest in your black friends and family, not the church.

Heaven is a beautiful place, ain’t it?
Every time I realize I am still on this dark foggy road to Heaven
I give up on God.
Summon an anger from Hades’ footrest
To make my pleading clearer
Reminder of some promises that, I’m sure,
Are outdated; I’ve never heard; were not made to me, regardless.

Would it be fair if Heaven took consideration to my pleading?

Earth is a pesky place, now I can
Really see. The Angle’s view sees everything below Heaven
With a past connecting to a future
Their blindness is horrific.
For we have rules here, as they’re bounded by, there.
I know why 500 years of sufferance has to be maintained
But I have to watch it unravel to a thousand years of pain.
So it’s been about a day, and there’s no word about the Everlasting’s return on The Promise.

I watch the decaying of Earth—hell masked with glamour
Seeing the sin
Burning with pain
Knowing it’ll never rain
